Enjoy a day trip with nostalgia on Ffestiniog Railway. This narrow gauge railway opened in 1836 with gravity driven trucks transporting slate from the quarries at Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog. By 1865 steam engines were pulling the loads and Victorian tourists were enjoying the spectacular view along the journey. Tourists can still enjoy the journey today and on special occasions you can ride in the original steam trains with ornate Victorian carriages. Come and enjoy Porthmadog and witness one of the longest gravity pulled trains.
