Cathedrals Cycle Route farmstay in Suffolk

cyclists on Cathedrals Cycle Route in Suffolk

We’ve got a 5-10% discount for cyclists looking for somewhere to stay along The Cathedrals Cycle Route. Our Old Brooder Bunkhouse is just 3.75 miles off the 56-mile St Edmundsbury Cathedral to Chelmsford Cathedral CCR15 section of the 2,000-mile cycle route. This wonderful route goes through stunning English landscapes, traversing between the 42 Church of England cathedrals. Mostly on paved surfaces, the route is not signposted, but very often you are following an existing cycle route. And we can offer you a comfortable bed – and sometimes a meal – at the end of a lovely day’s cycling in Suffolk and Essex! Quote the CCR 5-10% discount – depending on group size.

Over the years, we have given a warm welcome to choirs visiting St Edmundsbury Cathedral and bell-ringers on bicycles who have rung bells in churches en-route. Whether you are cycling solo or with a group, do check out our comfortable farmstay bunkhouse or other accommodation. Whilst the Old Brooder sleeps up to 22 in one large group, we’re also open to singles or small groups of cyclists, especially midweek and at short notice! There’s always somewhere safe and dry to store your bike, wonderfully accommodating local pubs.
Dating from 1503 but on the site of an 11th century building, St Edmundsbury Cathedral is housed in one of the former abbey churches which survived the Reformation intact and sits next to the abbey ruins – and has a new Millennium Tower. It hosts tours, choral and contemporary music concerts, ceilidhs, art exhibitions, beer and cider festivals, organ festivals, ancient library open days and so much more.
