If you’re looking for an outdoorsy Christmas with the extended family – Look no further than Smithys Bunkhouse near Abergavenny. Surrounded by the Black Mountains, there are walks to Skirrid, Sugarloaf and Blorenge from the doorstep. For cyclists Sustrans 42 and the Lon Las Cymru run close by. So there’s no excuse for not working off the excesses of the Christmas season.

There’s a fully fitted kitchen with a lovely large 6-ring gas cooker (perfect for cooking your Christmas dinner).   For your evening’s entertainment, you can gather around the log burner in the common room, there’s even a piano for a good old-fashioned sing-song.  Just make sure you have a pianist in your group.  If you don’t fancy cooking every night there’s a fab pub at the end of the drive which serves restaurant and bar food, good beer and a fine selection of whiskies.   Fully heated with a drying room and clothes washing facilities and two bunkroom sleeping 12 in each, Smithies has been designed with groups of outdoorsy folk in mind.   Please enquire for prices.  You’ll be surprised what great value it is. You’ll struggle to find any better value accommodation available over Christmas.
