Bird Reserves of Quantock Hills and Somerset Levels

Quantock Hills

All within 20 miles of the Campbell Room Group Accommodation.

The Quantock Hills above the Campbell Room attract birdwatchers, where many species can also be seen.  The accommodation is also within reach of the Somerset Levels, which offer some 250 square miles of rare wetland habitat including some 32 Sites of Special Scientific Interest and several National Nature Reserves. Among these, the Shapwick Heath National Nature Reserve attracts hundreds of thousands of starlings in the autumn, flocking to the area to roost. The Bridgwater Bay National Nature Reserve (which also connects with the Huntspill River National Nature Reserve), is a popular venue for bird watchers and around 190 species of bird have been recorded there. The Greylake, West Sedgemoor and Ham Wall RSPB reserves are also in the area. All these reserves are within 9 to 20 miles (20 to 40 minutes) of the Campbell Room.
