Bents Camping Barn IS NOW CLOSED.
Bents Camping Barn is in an enviable position. This bit of the Lune Valley is in the newly extended bit of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Meanwhile its postcode says Cumbria and it is part of the Lakeland Camping Barns network and clearly feels itself affiliated to the Lake District. The North Pennines AONB is equally close and with Smardale Gill and Great Asby Scar Nature Reserves on the doorstep and the Howgill Fells across the valley, clearly Bents has an embarrassment of countryside riches.
It was formerly a shepherds’ cottage dating back to the 1600s and is now a charming stone-built bunkhouse. Upstairs there are 2 sleeping rooms with 14 bunk beds – not sleeping platforms. On the ground floor there is a kitchen with cooking area which is well provided with facilities, a dining area with tables and benches and a toilet with washbasins.
What a great base to set out from and to explore this rugged and delightful landscape.
