Autumn at Ardnamurchan.

Autumn rut at The Ardnamurchan Bunkhouse

The Red deer rut is happening and there is a large stag chasing some hinds and roaring around the bunkhouse as I write this. This will continue for the next 3 weeks (most of October) and is fantastic to see and hear. The Pine Martens are visiting the bird table each evening, come and see them yourself with a stay at this Eco bunkhouse. Rooms available 9th-16th Oct and 19-20th Oct, 2019.

Ardnamurchan, the most westerly point on the British mainland surrounded by ocean and bordered by the Hebrides. The scenery is wild and spectacular – open hills, rocky cliffs and ancient forests are home to an abundance of wildlife and one of Britain’s last volcanoes.

This stunning woodland setting of Ardnamurchan Bunkhouse is the ancient Loch Sunart oak forest and the bunkhouse has an Oak wood area and woodland meadow to encourage the proliferation of flora and fauna; here and in the nearby RSPB nature reserve, you’ll have lots of opportunities to observe the local wildlife (depending on the season), including Sea Eagle, Otter, wild goats, red squirrels, pine martens along with Roe and Red deer.
