We are located within the circuit of the route, so convenient for participants and their supporters. Now in its 33 year the event takes place on Sunday 6 April 2024
Many consider this one of the most demanding, challenge walks due to the terrain and the weather conditions. It is a 26-mile route in the higher ground surrounding the East and West Allen Valleys in the North Pennines. As the event is held on the first Saturday in April there is the challenge that the land could be boggy, frozen or dry.
The event is organised by the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team, with money going to fund their life-saving activities.
The route has special permission to go across private land that is not normally accessible by the public. Much of the route is moorland with small footpaths, so you get an incredible feeling of an adventure into the wilderness.
Carrshield Camping Barn is located conveniently within the circuit, giving easy access to the start and finish point at Allendale. For supporters, it is a short walk from the Camping Barn to the route to cheer on the participants.
