Caving for the slightly more mature

hardraw old school bunkhouse

Short breaks of tailor-made adventures in the Yorkshire Dales aimed at older adults who seek a little sociable challenge.

At Hardraw Old School Bunkhouse we have recently begun to aim some of our mid-week provision at older adults, or the ‘slightly more mature’ – on request of many visitors to the bunkhouse. These adventure breaks allow a sociable introduction to new challenges in the fantastic scenic backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Adventurous activities offered are chosen by guests and can be selected from walking, caving, abseiling, climbing or gill scrambling. Participants can choose between 2 and 4 activities during a mid-week adventure break. Our recommendation would be one activity per day as this allows adventure to be interspersed with more relaxing enjoyment of the countryside and the numerous excellent local eateries.

These short breaks are self-catering but opportunities are provided to allow participants to arrange jointly cooked meals and/or meals out at local cafes and pubs. Adventure break participants have sole use of the bunkhouse and no-one will be required to scale ladders to top bunks – unless of course you wish to do so!

Cost includes: bunkroom accommodation (just for adventure break participants, single sex rooms available), a selection of half-day activities chosen by participants (with fully qualified instructors & all technical equipment provided) and provision of information regarding local facilities and self-guided excursions.
