I for one wouldn’t expect a ‘world of adventure’ in the heart of urban Birmingham. Yet, in a 75 acre green site including woodlands, grasslands, marsh and open water, Ackers Residential Centre offers the most comprehensive list of high octane activities as well as a residential centre for group bookings. It has been described as ‘an urban oasis’ while having nothing to do with either fruit drinks or shambling Mancunian dad-rockers.
All their activities can take place on their site, so you’d forget you were in a city. Most impressive is the dry ski and toboggan slope; but there are also climbing walls and zip wires for those with a taste for heights; bushcraft zones and jungle obstacle courses as well as water activities on the Grand Union Canal – running right there through the middle of the site.
