Adapting to change

In just a few weeks, the coronavirus outbreak has changed the way thousands of people and businesses operate in an unprecedented manner.

As we all work hard to navigate the new normal, we reflect on what a difference the last few weeks has made. This video was from when the BBC visited us just last year, the Park was busy, people enjoying themselves and their surroundings, although we should add that this it was BBC Breakfast, visiting at 7am, and some people were still asleep in their tents! Today however, it’s very different. The Park is peacefully quiet, the only sounds are the birds singing and the pheasants crowing. In one way it is amazing to see, nature at its finest, in another way it is sad to see, nobody able to enjoy what we have around us.

The COVID-19 outbreak has delivered an indiscriminate blow to the whole world, everything from small restaurants to multinational corporations have been forced to change how they do work amid a series of shutdown orders to help stem the tide of the virus. As with all businesses, we have also implemented many changes, from contactless check-in to flexible bookings. We understand that the world is not the same as it was in December.

We have tried to use the downtime to the benefit of our customers in time for re-opening, we have worked hard on finishing off the new reception and shop, decorating, moving furniture and stock, and creating a brand new environment for our hardworking reception staff. The whole family have been working on the Park, cutting grass, watering flowers, dusting, polishing and keeping a close eye on caravans and motorhomes for customers. We have created a new ‘river walk’ along Cod Beck stream, and put out a nature trail for children of all ages! There has been lots of hard work around the Mill, and we are proud of our teams now more than ever.
Until we know when we can re-open, we will continue to share photos on social media, and we will be doing our very best to make sure that we are ready for the day when we can open the gates and welcome guests once again.
In the meantime, we are here for you, so if you have any questions or want us to check anything in your caravan or motorhome, please let us know and we will do our best.
We really do hope that we see you all back at Cote Ghyll really soon.

Helen & Jon
