An exhilarating walk with return on the Welsh Highland Railway. Ideal trip out while staying at Snowdon Lodge.
The Aberglaslyn Pass is an exhilarating hours walk following the white water along the rocky edges of the Glaslyn river as it roars down from Beddgelert towards the sea. Take the Welsh Highland Railway from Nantmor to Beddgelert for the trip back, or make the whole journey from Snowdon Lodge by train from Porthmadog. The Aberglaslyn Pass is a well defined path, picking its way over the rocks, and at one location swinging around a buttress using reassuring handles that have been drilled into the rock. The Aberglaslyn Pass is also popular with kayakers negotiating the grade 4 rapids. You will find the timetable for the Welsh Highland Railway here. The Pass begins/ends at Beddgelert/Nantmor. A single fare from Beddgelert to Nantmor on the Welsh Highland Railway is less then £5 (2017 prices)and there is a National Trust car park on the A4085 with a path to the start of the Aberglaslyn Pass just below the station at Nantmor. Snowdon Lodge is a 15 minute walk from the Welsh Highland Railway at Porthmadog.
