We are taking a look back over the last few weeks and all that we have achieved during the closed season.
Without doubt our biggest development has been the building works for the new reception and shop. Work is well underway building a spacious, welcoming reception area, with a larger shop and offices, also including storage to the rear. The new building is due to be ready for April 2020, so in the meantime we’ll be based in the temporary reception adjacent to the shower block.
Within Cote Ghyll Cottage we have installed complete new kitchen units, a new integrated fridge freezer, dishwasher, new electric hob & oven, and a new tiled wood effect floor. Best of all, we have an amazing wood fired hot tub with extra seating arriving in March 2020. The Cottage is now listed on booking.com and is available to book directly on our website as well, why not take a look.
The award for the dirtiest work of the winter goes to the upgrade to the sewage system. This has involved installation of a new sewage system for the Mill, which is a small pumping station to link into the mains system.
Talking of the Mill, over the winter months the staff there have been re-decorating throughout, including bedrooms, and all social spaces – it feels like the Forth Road bridge, a never ending project! We have ordered new furniture, which includes armchairs, sofas and coffee tables for the lounge, TV room and annex lounge area. Its fair to say that the Mill lounge is also having a face-lift, but what colours will we choose? Watch this space! We have also been refurbishing the staff accommodation at the Mill, so we will be able to have more staff on site to look after our guests.
Outside, we have replaced 2 of our holiday caravans with new models. All models now have a double en-suite bedroom, twin bedded room and pullout bed in the lounge, and are fitted with a timber balcony to the side. Two of the holiday caravans are pet friendly and 2 are pet free.
Bracken Ghyll phase 2 is now complete, with an extra 6 static caravan pitches overlooking the stunning Cod Beck stream. Sited and now for sale on these new pitches are the Willerby Vacation and Swift Bordeaux pre-loved static caravans. Wraparound balconies are being built to give you seating overlooking the stream. The Bracken Ghyll development is now complete with a total of 18 large south facing pitches, spread over three different levels.
Some of the static caravans have been moved around and re-sited ready for sale. Pre-loved statics are the Swift Bordeaux, and Willerby Vacation. A new static, now on a prime, south facing plot is the Carnaby Rosedale. Due to arrive in February is the large ABI Ambleside Premier. Details of all of these can be found on our website.
Finally… all hardstanding touring pitches have been refurbished, re-edged, and levelled, lots of extra drains have been installed and many of the trees have been trimmed back.
It really has been non-stop this winter, but we know that it will all be worthwhile, and we can’t wait for the start of the season so we can showcase our amazing facilities to all of our fantastic guests!
