Galson Farm Farmhouse is a handsome 18th Century building converted into a welcoming guesthouse. The hostel next door is converted from one of the farm buildings. Stout and robust, as befits a structure that overlooks the everchanging Atlantic Ocean, the hostel is on a traditional cobbled courtyard and boasts views across the coast, to the Butt of Lewis lighthouse and then to the ocean.
The hostel has an 6 bed-dorm in and also a full kitchen/dining room and showers. When you book your stay, you’ll find yourself on the north coast of Scotland’s largest island. A perfect spot to explore the coast with its sandy beaches, rocky outcrops, hills and burns.
The townships still have a crofting character, they’re on a small and human scale, easy to discover and explore. Everything looks towards the sea. Wherever you turn during your stay, you’ll find yourself communicating with the endless and implacable Atlantic Ocean. It’d be easy to lose yourself in its various moods, to seek out isolated corners and be charmed by the island’s wildlife.
