Ty’n y Berth is a former school at the foot of Cadair Idris on the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Surrounded by mountains, valleys and crystal clear rivers, yet only 12 miles from the coast, it’s a great location for outdoor activities and family holidays. The spacious accommodation sleeps up to 43 including a separate unit for 8 which can also be hired on its own. The main room is divided into dining and lounge areas. There is a commercial kitchen, recently renovated, with large oven, dishwasher, hob and microwave, plenty of toilets & showers, drying room, pay phone, lockable storage for boats & bikes and parking for 10 cars. Corris is within walking distance and has two pubs: the Slaters Arms, which does bar meals, and the Braich Goch Inn. Courses are also available in climbing, mountain walking, abseiling, gorge scrambling, mine exploration, ropes courses, orienteering, and team building. On entering Corris Uchaf from north on A487 you will enter a 30 mph speed limit. Ty’n y Berth is the old school on the right, just inside the 30mph signs.
Trains run from London to Machynlleth with a change at Birmingham New Street.

Because its a group activities accommodation it is really spacious and sleeps up to 43 (with a separate unit for 8 which can be hired on its own); and they offer courses in climbing, mountain walking, abseiling, gorge scrambling, mine exploration, ropes courses, orienteering, and team building. Ty’n y Berth Mountain Centre is close to the village of Corris, just north of the alternative market town of Machynlleth on the south edge of Snowdonia. It provides the perfect base to explore the surrounding mountains, lakes and woodlands. The area is dominated by mountains carved by the last ice age, valleys with native woodland, pine forests, clear lakes and tumbling rivers. Half an hours travel in two directions takes you to a coastline of estuaries, sandy beaches and rock pools. Ty’n y Berth is ideal for groups who enjoy outdoor activities.

Ty’n y Berth Mountain Centre is run by Wide Horizons, a registered charity. When not being used as Adventure Leaning Centres, the buildings are available for hire as Self Catering Bunkhouse.
