Cosy accommodation on Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk.

July 6th 2021

The Old Café Bunkroom in Rydal, Ambleside, is the perfect place to stop for a break whilst on your Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk.  Treat yourself 2 nights in our cosy, comfy micro hostel to give yourselves a day or two to reinvigorate and re-energise.

The Old Café Bunkroom is part of the historic Rydal Lodge Country House B&B with extensive riverside grounds so you can enjoy country house facilities at hostel prices!  Put your feet up, enjoy our beautiful garden with the river running through and relax.  Enjoy a jug of Pimm’s and Lemonade or grab a cold beer from our Honesty Bar? …And breathe…

Raining?  Cosy up in front of our wood-burning stove in the ‘Snug’ and maybe read a book or play a game borrowed from our well-stocked library.

And all from £50 per night for 1 or 2 guests!

As part of your rest and recuperation, why not visit Rydal Mount – the former home of William Wordsworth just a 3-minute walk from our door?  Do some wild water swimming in Rydal Water (we can provide extra towels on request) or saunter down to Waterhead Pier in Ambleside (2 miles) and take a cruise on Lake Windermere.

Need additional sustenance for the next leg of the journey?  You can order a delicious full English breakfast as an optional extra delivered to your room (or, on a sunny day, enjoy it in the garden).
