The former village church of St Michael has been beautifully converted by the local community into a welcoming lodge, offering private en-suite bedrooms and shared communal areas, including a well-equipped self-catering kitchen.

Retaining many original features, the lodge has been developed to cater specifically to walkers, cyclists, and tranquil visitors interested in exploring the stunning landscape of Swaledale.

There are 16 beds across six private en-suite rooms, each sleeping between 2 and 4 people. Guests can relax in the communal lounge or enjoy the outdoor seating area. Facilities include ample parking, drying room, secure bike storage, and EV charging points.

Wow! What a stunning new hostel!

Introducing, St Michaels Lodge, a fantastic brand new hostel in the Yorkshire Dales converted from the village church! How romantic to sleep bathed in a kaleidoscope of natural light from the anceint stained glass windows. Cook, eat, chill and chat where history and beauty blend seamlessly.

Guests’ comfort has been a top priority of the conversion.  Sleep in sturdy, handmade wooden bunks.  Cook in the fully equipped, sparkling new kitchen.  Eat and relax  in this unique, tranquil environment and cosy up by the wood burning stove.  For those long summer evenings, gather around the firepit and sing or tell stories. For cyclists there’s a bike wash & maintenance area.  For drivers there are 11 parking spaces.  What’s more you’ll find charging points for both cars and bikes.  With the Coast to Coast walkers’ and mountain bikers’ routes passing close by, it’s sure to be a popular stop-over. But don’t leave it to us to tell you about this fantastic new hostel.  Go and visit yourself.
