Camping barn in the Lake District near Keswick
St John's-in-the-Vale Camping Barn is adapted from an 18th century stable and hayloft, in an idyllic setting. Overlooking St John's Beck, the peaceful hill farm has stunning views to Blencathra, Helvellyn and Castle Rock.The Barn has a sleeping area upstairs (mattress provided) with a kitchen and sitting/dining area below. A separate toilet, and shower are within the building. The kitchen has a hob, microwave and fridge. Pans, crockery and cutlery are provided.
A wood-burning stove provides a focal point and warmth! There is a BBQ (home produced charcoal available) and seating area outside and, as there is no light pollution, the star-filled night skies are magical. Northern Lights have been seen too!
Home produced meat is also available along with our own Free Range Eggs and preserves. Please book by email (using the contact form on this page).

Trains terminate at Windermere. From there take a 555 bus towards Keswick. Get off at Thirlmere Dam Road End (Smaithwaite). Climb over ladder stile and we are ½ mile north along a footpath.Walks :

Our Camping Barn is superbly located, set in Low Bridge End Farm which is situated in the heart of the English Lake District.
Our Camping Barn is superbly located, set in Low Bridge End Farm which is situated in the heart of the English Lake District around 6 Miles from Keswick. Right on the Camping Barn’s doorstep is a tea garden (with homemade bakes) a woodland display and a farm trail providing stunning views across Blencathra, Helvellyn and Castle Rock. The Barn sleeps up to 8 and had a family friendly dining area. Outside there is a barbecue and an outside seating area with mountain and river views, perfect for the summer!
