Group accommodation in the Brecon Beacons

Located on a working hill farm, Smithy’s Bunkhouse lies in the Black Mountains within the Brecon Beacons National Park, two and a half miles from the quaint historic market town of Abergavenny.

Designed to accommodate 24 persons in two dormitories of 12 bunks, additional space is available above the common room if required. The bunkhouse is equipped with showers, toilets, a fully equipped kitchen, a drying area, coin operated washer and dryer and an adjacent common room with piano & wood-burning stove. It is heated during the winter by night storage heaters. Hot water and electricity are supplied at no extra cost, some firewood is provided and extra may be purchased.

Smithy's Bunkhouse is perfect for groups of friends and families, outdoor enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists, clubs and youth groups. There are walks to Skirrid, Sugarloaf and Blorenge from the doorstep and Sustrans 42 and the Lon Las Cymru run close by. Outdoor activities can be arranged for your group if required, or if you want to organise your own you can ask for a list of local providers.

Outside there is ample car parking space in the adjoining fields for ball games etc and overflow camping. Plus fantastic views of Skirrid Mountain.

A 16th-century coaching inn is located at the top of the farm drive which serves bar snacks, restaurant meals and traditional ales. The area is ideal for walking, climbing, caving, mountain biking, canoeing, water sports, and pony trekking.

We have availability over the Eater holidays for groups of up to 24. Come and visit our bunkhouse based on our beautiful working farm. Lambing will be in full swing by then! Located just outside Abergavenny in the Brecon Beacons. There are great walking/running and cycling routes from the doorstep and a traditional pub serving bar snacks and meals at the end of the drive!

Bring your boots or you bikes and have a adventurous Christmas in the Brecon Beacons

If you’re looking for an outdoorsy Christmas with the extended family – Look no further than Smithys Bunkhouse near Abergavenny. Surrounded by the Black Mountains, there are walks to Skirrid, Sugarloaf and Blorenge from the doorstep. For cyclists Sustrans 42 and the Lon Las Cymru run close by. So there’s no excuse for not working off the excesses of the Christmas season.

There’s a fully fitted kitchen with a lovely large 6-ring gas cooker (perfect for cooking your Christmas dinner).   For your evening’s entertainment, you can gather around the log burner in the common room, there’s even a piano for a good old-fashioned sing-song.  Just make sure you have a pianist in your group.  If you don’t fancy cooking every night there’s a fab pub at the end of the drive which serves restaurant and bar food, good beer and a fine selection of whiskies.   Fully heated with a drying room and clothes washing facilities and two bunkroom sleeping 12 in each, Smithies has been designed with groups of outdoorsy folk in mind.   Please enquire for prices.  You’ll be surprised what great value it is. You’ll struggle to find any better value accommodation available over Christmas.
