Stay on a remote island, off the Pembrokeshire Coast
Stays of 3,4 or 7 nights are available on the island, with boats departing early on some Fridays and most Monday mornings. Booking is essential and demand is high, with first availability offered to WWT members.
There is accommodation for up to 20 guests in refurbished rooms. Each room has solar-powered hot water and electric lighting.
There are three twin rooms and two double rooms in the renovated farm buildings. The cottage has four single rooms and one twin room, which can be converted into a double. There are a further two twin rooms in the Wheelhouse block.
Modern compost toilets are located adjacent to each accommodation block. However, living off-grid means there are no showers.
Electrical charging is available in the library, but as all power is solar-generated, it may be limited on dull days. The library has a range of reference books, and the common room in the cottage is open to all guests.
The accommodation is self-catering, so guests should bring their own food. There is also a small shop on the island selling basic foods and treats.
The communal kitchen has two cookers powered by bottled gas, together with plenty of cooking and eating utensils. Each visitor is allocated fridge and freezer space. Because of the limited power supply, there is no microwave.
Skokholm Island is a wild and beautiful place to stay. Quieter and smaller than its sister island, Skomer, it has a unique romance and charm that makes it a truly special place to visit.
