News & Offers from Rowen Bunkhouse
YHA Rowen is once again owned by the family who sold it 3 generations ago.
September 16th 2024
Having spent three generations as Rowen Youth Hostel, the old farmhouse at Rhiw Farm is once again owned by the local farm. Refurbished and restarting as Rowen Bunkhouse, it provides ideal accommodation for groups of up to 16 walkers, families holidaying together, and those who love the great outdoors of Eryri (Snowdonia).
In 1947 it was a hard winter when Rhiw farmland and farmhouse came for sale. It was bought by David Davies, a local farmer. As it was the land he wanted he sold the farmhouse to the Youth Hostel Association who ran it as a youth hostel for nearly 80 years. In 2023 the YHA put the hostel on the market and the grand children of David Davies saw opportunity to purchase the farmhouse and bring it back to the family ownership.
The property has been updated and is now back offering wonderful affordable location for up to 16 guests to relax and unwind on the hillside enjoying the wonderful Welsh countryside.
