Bunkhouse and cottage in the heart of rural Pembrokeshire

Nestled on the slopes of the Preseli Hills in the heart of rural Pembrokeshire, this welcoming bunkhouse and cottage offer the perfect base for outdoor adventures, family getaways, and group stays. Surrounded by open moorland, ancient stone monuments, and quiet country lanes, you’ll have direct access to some of West Wales’ most inspiring walking, cycling, and wildlife-rich landscapes.

The Refuge and the Cottage occupy opposite ends of a traditional long barn—thoughtfully converted from one of the area’s oldest buildings. Both combine rustic character with modern comforts, including underfloor heating powered by an energy-efficient heat pump.

The Refuge provides spacious self-catering accommodation for up to eight guests. Two open-plan sleeping lofts each sleep four, with fully made-up beds ready for a restful night. Downstairs, you’ll find a cosy lounge with large, comfortable sofas, a TV, books, and games, as well as a well-equipped kitchen featuring a stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, and washing machine. There are also two shower rooms on the ground floor.

The Cottage is a cosy upside-down space sleeping up to four guests, with one double bedroom and a bunk room. Accessed via steps to the first floor, the open-plan living area includes a kitchen, dining table, comfortable sofas, and a TV. There’s also a shower room and a utility area with a washer-dryer. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

Both properties can be booked together, accommodating groups of up to 12 people.

Access is via the farmyard, which you’ll share with a few friendly chickens. The enclosed, south-facing garden features a simple barbecue, a small campfire area, and a pub-style bench—perfect for relaxing and taking in the views.

The farm extends across 21 acres of unspoilt heath and moorland, home to a small flock of sheep, chickens, ducks, and even a goose. It also includes a private nature reserve, the result of over 20 years of rewilding, rich in flora and fauna. With minimal light pollution, it’s an ideal spot for stargazing, while the big skies, dramatic clouds, and stunning sunsets add to the sense of escape.

A bridleway runs through the farm, making it an excellent base for walking and cycling—whether you prefer gravel, mountain biking, or road routes. Explore the Preseli Hills, dotted with standing stones, ancient burial sites, and traces of early habitation, and enjoy the network of footpaths and bridleways that flow from the hilltops all the way down to the coast.
