Beautifully situated 300m up on the south facing slopes of Blencathra just 1 mile out of the Lakeland village of Threlkeld, Lonscale is a new hostel offering group accommodation at the FSC Blencathra Centre. With panoramic views of the Lake District fells, this impressive setting has a true sense of space, giving the site a unique quality, which many visitors enjoy year after year. It is an ideal place for a main holiday or short break. The hostel is available to hire on a sole use basis for groups of 16 - 26. A sympathetic conversion of a two storey historic slate building, it offers award winning eco-friendly accommodation. The electricity is generated by the Centre's own hydro scheme and the heating is powered by Cumbrian-sourced biomass. Converted in 2018 it is modern and spacious. There's a fully equipped kitchen, a lovely large dining area, a purpose built drying/boot room and a delightful outdoor patio area for those lazy summer evenings. All bedrooms are en suite and all bed linen is provided. With the magnificent Lake District on your doorstep and plenty of walking and mountain biking routes to choose from you may well need to return again and again. There are also 4 self catering cottages and a 110 bed educational centre on this site.
A deposit of £250 is required. Full payment required 6 weeks before arrival.
Directions:
From Junction 40 on the M6 (D) follow A66 to Keswick . After about 12 miles turn off right following signpost for Threlkeld. Go through the village and turn right onto Blease Road. The centre is located 1 mile up the hill.
Alternatively Head toward Keswick along the A591. As you drive down into the town turn right and follow signposts for A66 to Penrith and M6. Follow the A66 for about 2 miles. Turn off left and follow signpost for Threlkeld. Go through the village and turn left onto Blease Road. The centre is located 1 mile up the hill.
Public Transport :
The nearest train station is the Penrith train station, approximately 18 miles from Threlkeld. Stagecoach operates the X4 and X5 Bus from Penrith train station to Workington which runs every hour and stops in Threlkeld or Keswick. Drop off at Threlkeld 1 mile walk up hill to the centre. Drop off at Keswick, taxi from Keswick to the centre (approx £10). The centre is located 1 mile from the village of Threlkeld up Blease Road.
Christmas bubbles of up to three familys are welcome to book our self-contained hostel close to Keswick. Use our big well equipped kitchen and dining room to cook that festive meal and enjoy sole use of the building. Lonscale Hostel has re-opened

On the slopes of Skiddaw Mountain by the Blencathra Centre. The bunkhouse is available for sole use bookings and when there is availability we are also taking B&B bookings via booking.com

Newly opened, award winning eco hostel on the slopes of Blencathra.

This newly converted hostel is part of the FSC Blencathra Centre and is available on a sole use basis for groups of between 14 and 26.
The hostel’s electricity is generated by the Centre’s own hydro scheme and the heating is powered by Cumbrian-sourced biomass. Warm, comfortable and very well equipped you are assured of a lovely stay surrounded by the magnificent Lakeland fells.
