Highland Basecamp is located in the small village of Lochaline right next to the Sound of Mull. The perfect location for exploring Mull & the entire West Highland Peninsula. Lochaline is in one of the most remote areas of the Highlands, there is no better place to escape the rat race and immerse yourself in nature. Highland Basecamp is ideal for diving, hiking, cycling, kayaking or any outdoor adventures throughout the year.
This warm and cosy bunkhouse, run with sustainability in mind, has 12 private en-suite rooms each with one set of single bed bunks. There is a spacious well equipped kitchen and a comfortable lounge. Each room has direct access to a large decking area, with plenty of seating & stunning views.
With under floor heating, large fluffy towels, sturdy wooden bunks, hotel quality bedding and hot showers you are assured of a superbly comfortable stay.
Just over an hour drive from Fort William and a stone's throw away from the Isle of Mull by ferry — Highland Basecamp is remote but well connected.
There is air & nitrox available on site for divers.

Highland Basecamp is between 60 to 90 minutes drive from Fort William depending on which way you go. 1. Via Corran Ferry (please check website to see it is running). Takes circa 60 mins. 2. On land: Take the A830 & A861 around Loch Eil, then follow the road south to Lochaline. This takes just over 90 mins, depending on traffic. 3. Take your time and MULL it over! Take the CalMac ferry from Oban to Craignure on Mull (pre-booking required), then after a short 10 minute drive on Mull, take a second ferry across to Lochaline from Fishnish (this one is turn up and go or pre-bookable). There is a bus service from Fort William, all the info can be found on the Shiel Bus website. Alternatively cycling to Lochaline is a great option and the roads are glorious for a bike tour, Komoot and Strava are the best mapping tools to use for this.
