A city centre hostel within easy walk of the beautiful old port, cathedral, shopping district and a wonderful mix of pubs, clubs, live music, restaurants and café scene. Great for the young and “young at heart” who enjoy a vibrant city centre. Twenty minutes’ drive to Exmouth with its 2 mile sandy beach for all sail sports and start of the Jurassic Coastline, and the same to Dartmoor National Park for walking, climbing, cycling and horse riding. Exeter is an excellent place to find work and is just 2½ hours by train to London. In addition to male, female and mixed dorms there are private rooms and three large double rooms with additional bunks, sitting area, tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer and towels. The new 5 star wet rooms are going down a treat! Free WiFi. Not suitable for hen and stag groups, DSS, unaccompanied under 18s and families. ID required.

Dorms from £17.50pp or £75pp per week. Private rooms from £45 for two people, £75 for four people. 50p for card payments. £5 key deposit.

Bus station: over main road, take first turning on left “Southernhay East”. Stay on LHS walk until you reach the Southgate Hotel. Hostel is diagonally opposite. From Central Station: take Queen St to High St, turn right then, at 1st lights turn left on to South St. Continue to large junction at bottom of hill. Cross at lights.

Public Transport:

National Express, local bus companies and rail networks. 24 hour parking ticket available from hostel which is cheaper then local car parks.

For example the Royal Albert Memorial Museum’s first world war’s collection ;

Over the 2014 to 2018 WW1 commemoration period one of the cases in RAMM’s courtyard gallery will show objects that reflect life in Exeter and Devon during the First World War, a time of momentous change for individual people, families and society.

Part of RAMM’s four-year programme of exhibitions, displays, events and activities that focuses on the First World War’s impact on the people and landscape of the Southwest. Developed with regional and national partners, it examines the wider social and cultural changes that have had a lasting effect on our everyday lives.
