News & Offers from Downham Camping Barn
Start as you mean to go on…… with a visit to the Trough of Bowland and the wild beauty of the South Pennines
November 6th 2025
Christmas … yep, just around the corner! can be one big BLOAT – lovely as it is for the once a year blow out, why not follow with a light detox in the rarefied air of the South Pennines.
The Downham Camping Barn has all the benefits of a camping holiday without the chaos of canvas. This private stone tent sleeps up to 12 comfortably on the upper floor, bring your own camping bed and bedding, and has a long communal table in the roomy, log fire heated kitchen down stairs. A back to nature stay with cold water only and LED battery fed lighting this is just the place for that alternative New Year after all the turkey and tinsel.
Off road parking and room for the truly hardy, for whom camping means battling with pegs and canvas and cooking on a fire pit, you will wake to see lonely Pendle looming in the mist, swept by a gale, glistening with new snow or even, for the really lucky, tranquil – under a chilly slither of sunlight.
Make your 2025 Christmas and / or 2026 New Year a memorable one at the Downham Camping Barn – where every day is different landscape.

That time of yeeare thou maist in me behold, when yellow leaves, or none, or few doe hange Upon those boughes whichshake against the could… Shakespeare : Sonnet 73,

Celebrate the crisp and changing colours of Autumn with a stay at the DOWNHAM CAMPING BARN. This stone tent is a great weekend get-away for experienced or first time adventurers in to the landscape – and all without the need for canvas.
See Pendle in all it’s end of year glory from the doorway of this charming stone barn set in the heart of the National Landscape area. Known mainly for the infamous Lancashire witch trials, the area has far more to offer with a thriving market town in Clitheroe, traditional pubs, miles of routes for walking, cycling and riding and a Castle.
The barn offers basic accommodation for 12 with an upper sleeping loft. Downstairs there is a large gathering and cooking area with long table, bench seating and log burner with adjacent washing and toilet facilities, cold water only. Not on the grid or gas, LED battery powered lighting throughout guests need to bring everything usual for a camping experience without the complication of canvas.
Outside there is a fire pit, picnic bench seating . Bigger groups? there is room for tents around the barn.
Tranquility is the name of the game – so if you are looking for a place to rave, this is not the setting for you. As a gentle introduction to the great outdoors you couldn’t find a better place.
We have availability for weekends and during the week for the upcoming half term holidays. Also taking bookings for those looking to escape the usual Christmas / New Years Day routine.
