Formerly owned by the YHA, Dalby Forest Hostel is now owned and run independently as a YHA Partner Hostel.

This 21 bed hostel was once the village school, it sits in the picturesque & historic village of Lockton in the North York Moors National Park. Available for sole use bookings it is perfect for gatherings of friends and families and for cycling or walking groups. The nearby Cropton & Dalby Forests are great for walkers and cyclists. While families will love taking the North York Moors Steam train that stops at nearby Levisham Station (2.7 miles away). This popular line runs direct from Levisham to the seaside resort of Whitby, stopping at at Newton Dale Halt (ideal for walkers), the beautiful village of Goathland (aka Aidensfield in the ITV drama Heartbeat) and peaceful Grosmont along the way.

Stargazing enthusiasts will find plenty to see within the heart of the North York Moors National Park – one of only 21 International Dark Sky Reserves in the world. The market town of Pickering and coastal favourite Scarborough are nearby too!

Facilities in the hostel include a well equipped self-catering kitchen, a large lounge/diner with a wood burning stove and plenty of seating for everyone. There are 4 bedrooms one of which is accessible. The whole hostel is on the ground floor.

There is a small outdoor area (unenclosed) with seating, picnic tables and a locked cycle store.

YHA Dalby Forest (previously know as Lockton Hostel) is now owned and run by an experienced independent hostel owner. This is indeed great news and a huge relief to the many thousands of people for whom Dalby Forest Youth Hostel has special memories and is a favourite place to stay. Currently offering sole use bookings, the hostel, in the sleepy village of Lockton in the North York Moors National Park, sleeps groups of up to 21 across 4 rooms. Affiliated to the YHA as a partner hostel.
