Stay in Blaenau Ffestiniog’s former Police House!
May 20th 2025
Aptly called called CellB, this quirky, small, not-for-profit hostel’s motto is: EAT, DRINK, WATCH, SLEEP. Why??? you might be thinking. Well, it’s because you can do all those 4 things in this historic building. In fact, CellB is probably the only hostel in the country (if not the world) with an independent cinema on site. It also has a pop-up restaurant serving pizzas every Saturday night. What a perfect place to base yourself for an adventurous weekend in Wales.

A cinema too? They kept that quiet!

Cell B in Blaenau Ffestiniog joins a growing movement independent hostels. But what makes it unique is that it also houses an independent cinema..
Please persevere with this Natter, because once you’ve got past me indulging myself with poor quality Dad-jokes, you’ll find that Cell B hostel in Blaenau Ffestiniog is charming and fascinating.
Cell B in is an arresting proposition. You’re a guaranteed a warm ‘Hello, hello, hello’. Save up your coppers and treat yourself to a night in the cells.
*Sigh* I can’t keep this up! Let’s start again.
The reason for this cascade of dreadful puns is because Blaenau Ffestiniog’s converted historic Edwardian police house is the home of the Cell B hostel. Its quite the building! As well as having space for a comfortable and funky modern hostel with all the facilities you’d expect, it also has space for a restaurant and, wait for it, a cinema! Playing a bang-up-to-the-minute selection of films, they’re leading a trend of small, independent cinemas of quirky character. If you’ve come down from the mountains (and secured your bike in their intimidating old cell bike store) or if the weather has proved just a bit too much, then you can catch a film in the most convivial of surroundings.
I’d recommend a quick trip to their website to taste their particular sense of style and you can book there too.
