We love being an independent hostel in North Wales!

May 30th 2024

Capel Tanrallt is in a great location on the edge of the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) and close to the coast. We make a real effort to personally welcome our guests so that we can make you feel at home and give you all the information you need to ensure you have the best possible stay.

We are Lou and Jon and this is our second summer season running Capel Tanrallt. You can see our photo on the Independent Hostels guidebook cover! Lou is an outdoor instructor and Jon is a history teacher and keen cyclist, climber and mountaineer. We have lived in the area for 25 years and love having a chat with guests about where they can visit during their stay. Whatever your interest, whether it mountain walking, climbing, cycling, exploring the coast on foot or on the water, wild swimming, exploring the local history or sampling the delights available at local pubs and cafes, we can make great recommendations.

We still have mid week availability throughout the summer so get in touch and arrange your stay!

A February half term break in North Wales.

January 24th 2024

Book your stay at Capel Tanrallt for February half term. North Wales is a great place to visit at any time of the year. At Capel Tanrallt we have a wood pellet burning stove in the lounge, games and a pool table. We also have a drying room, so whatever the weather, you can enjoy getting out. That being said, the weather can be stunning in February, and if it is, you will want to be out all of the time!

We can have fantastic weather in February with cold crisp days, perfect for exploring in the mountains. If the weather is poor in the hills, it is often great at the coast and Dinas Dinlle, with its stunning sandy beach and views of the Llyn Peninsula is less than 15 minutes away. Castles are great to visit what ever the weather and we have three within an easy drive: Caernarfon, Harlech and Conwy. On your way back to Capel Tanrallt, why not stop at Caernarfon to explore the streets within the castle walls and enjoy some fantastic pancakes at Scoops! For the adrenalin seekers amongst you there is also zipworld which has the fastest ziipline in the world! There is something for everyone and your dog is also welcome!
