November 1st 2019

Whenever you are standing in this North Lakes village you will see cyclists zipping through or making a stop at the pub or cafes! Mountain bikers can explore “The Back O’Skiddaw” route, up to Skiddaw House and on to Keswick or Threlkeld then make your way back, all off road. Road cyclists will be in there element with an abundance of scenic and relatively traffic free roads. A well known loop is to cycle through Hesket, Mosedale, Mungrisedale, Threlkeld, Keswick, then to Bassenthwaite, Uldale and finishing back in Caldbeck.

We have a large cycling barn to store your bikes in, also there are stands just outside the rear of the accommodation to push your wheels in and get yourselves prepared before you set off. This is under a roof also. If you decide to keep your bike here then bring your own lock. Otherwise just leave your bike in our large barn which is locked and secure. Cycling is a pretty big thing around this area!! Whenever you are standing in the village you will see cyclists zipping through or making a stop at the pub! With plenty of cafes also, a village shop and gift shops, our accommodation is the perfect base for a cycling break or weekend exploring the lovely meandering roads of the North Lake District area.

There is also a good option for mountain bikers to explore “The Back O’Skiddaw” off road route. A mountain bike can go over to Skiddaw House and on to Keswick or Threlkeld then make your way back for a big day out! All off road!
