Bransdale Mill is an eighteenth century Grade II listed water mill which has been converted by the National Trust to provide comfortable bunkhouse accommodation for 12 people in two bunkrooms.
It is full of historic character with flag-stone floors, wooden beams and a log burner. Brandsdale Mill Bunkhouse has a kitchen, sitting room and dining room on the ground floor and two bunk-bedded rooms upstairs. A nearby outbuilding houses toilets, showers and a drying room. There are storage heaters in every room, plus a solid fuel stove in the sitting room. A small supply of logs is provided, bring your own additional logs and kindling.
At the head of an unspoiled, hidden valley in the North York Moors with no wifi or phone signal Bransdale Mill is an ideal base from which to get away from it all and enjoy peace and tranquillity in beautiful countryside. Three miles from Wainwright’s classic Coast to Coast walk, there are many fine walks in the surrounding area, which is rich in wildlife. The nearest towns, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley, are both 10 miles away, and it is 8 miles to the nearest pubs. Attractions in the area include the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Heartbeat Country, several National Trust properties, Pickering and the Yorkshire Coast. The surrounding farmland is owned by the National Trust and let to tenant farmers, so you will be surrounded by the working life of the Dale. This accommodation is featured on our map of Yorkshire and Lancashire and here is its own website.
