Unique hostel close to the Antrim Coast with regular local music & storytelling sessions

Ballyeamon Barn is tucked away in the beautfiul Antrim Coast & Glens National Landscape, an area celebrated for its forests, hiking trails and waterfalls. The stunning Antrim Coast is a short 10 minute drive, while for walkers the Moyle Way (a section of the Ulster Way route) passes the doorstep. Just 5 miles from the pretty little coastal town of Cusendall, Ballyeanom Barn also makes the perfect stopover on the Causeway Coastal Route.

Guests have a choice of wallet-friendly accommodation: The Hostel sleeps 14 in one bright & spacious dorm. While The Loft apartment sleeps up to 6 in 2 double beds & 2 futons and is perfect for families and groups of friends. Guests in both share the well equipped kitchen.

What makes Ballyeamon barn unique is that owner and host Liz, a renowned storyteller, has established it's own adjoining 'session house' where guests have the chance to listen to local musicians, singers and storytellers during their regular sessions. These are free and open to all.

With extra workshop space that can be booked by groups, the Barn makes a perfect venue for retreats, yoga weekends, crafting groups etc. What's more Liz also offers storytelling workshops and can arrange local walking guides, horse riding, yoga and ‘pamper’ sessions for guests.

  • Price per night:

    Barn: £20 pp. Loft: £100 for the double room plus £20 per extra person. Please enquire for sole use.
  • Directions:

    The barn is 8km from Cushendall on the B14 road. From Cushendall this is the road opposite the Eurospar. From Ballymena take the A43 signposted for Cushendall and then the B14 which is 4km after Cargan village
  • Public Transport :

    Translink bus service 150 between Ballymena and Cushendall drops guests half a mile from the barn at the junction of Ballyemon and Glenariff roads.
