Yorkshire like a good deal of the countryside has plenty of caches to find. Kettlewell and the surrounding area is no different having plenty to crack on with.
After a few quick finds in the delightful town of Kettlewell there’s a few choices of route. You could go up along the river to amusingly named Starbotton and then on to the cache dense area of Hubberholme stopping at a suitable pub on the way. Or you could check out some of the Earth Caches just SW of Hesleden. Detailing some of the fascinating prehistory of the area, the Yordale series describes how some of the rocks came to be. With the strange fossil creatures inside of them…
But speaking of rocks the final route I’d like to talk about is the stepping stones, you’ll find them following the river south from Kettlewell just past grassington. Stopping off at Kilnsey Crag and limestone landing on the way.
These fording stones lead to Linton church which is well worth a look on it’s own! But of course the choice is all yours. After a hard day caching it’s good to know that dinner is on offer at Kettlewell. No slogging in the kitchen when all you want to do is eat and go to bed! It’s also good to know that Kettlewell doubles as a secondhand bookstore so there’s always something to wind down with even if you’ve forgot to bring your Patterson. Ideal.
