Set on the banks of Loch Lomond, Balmaha Bunkhouse has been an iconic overnight stop on the West Highland Way for over 15 years.
An excellent first night after leaving Milngavie, the start of the West Highland Way just north of Glasgow. This comfortable accommodation provided walkers with a warm bed, breakfast and a self catering kitchen all at a very affordable price.
Its situation close to the West Highland Way was not the only asset of this hostel. With breath-taking views over the loch, Balmaha Bunkhouse has called the romantic and adventurous to experience of Loch Lomond for many years. Situated on the shores of Loch Lomond, it was an ideal base for exploring the islands. Where you could find ancient graveyards and the burial place of Rob Roy`s cousin.
