About Thornbridge Outdoors

Thornbridge Outdoor Great Longstone Bakewell Outdoor Centre in the heart of the Peak Park
Thornbridge Hall has a fascinating history. A dwelling on the site at the time of the Doomesday Book was called Thorne Breach (meaning a clearing in the Thorn Woods). In the late 1890's it became a grand house. The reception and entrance of Thornbridge Outdoors was once the private access to the railway line, now the Monsal Trail. From 1946 - 1997 Thornbridge was owner by Sheffield City Council. It became a teacher training college and later a residential education centre of the city's children. Owned by the present family since 2003 the hall and gardens have been carefully restored to their former glory. Thornbridge Education Centre has become Thornbridge Outdoors.
