Land of Lost Content

This May bank holiday our family and a group of friends visited ALL STRETTON BUNKHOUSE, close to the Land of Lost Content.  There were 9 of us in total, 6 adults and 3 kids. We arrived Friday and found the facilities excellent – we quickly knocked up a chilli and ate outside in the beautiful surroundings.  After a relaxing dinner we went to bed – the beds are extremely comfortable and we all loved the crisp white bed linen – so cosy.

On Saturday we took a walk to Church Stretton – a great walk straight from bunkhouse. We had a wonderful time visiting the many antique shops – which Church Stretton is renowned for – one is so big we all got lost over the many floors! A bit of rain so back to the bunkhouse, got in the cars and decided to visit the Land of Lost Content in Craven Arms.

The Land of Lost Content is housed in an old Methodist Church and as you step in – first thoughts are – OMG what have I stepped into, as it looks like a junk shop. DO NOT LEAVE! – it becomes an Aladdin’s cave of nostalgia – your childhood is revisited before your eyes, your parents’ childhood, games, toys, tv, music, – even brownie uniforms all things post Victorian. I can honestly say  the Land of Lost Content is the best museum I have ever visited. There is a charming naivety in the way things are displayed and the paper plates that mark the exhibits give the museum a ‘home made’ feel. We spent two hours but we could have spent all day and such value for money – approx £13 for a family of 4 – we will definitely be going back.

Back to the bunkhouse for another lovely night sitting and playing card games and scrabble. On Sunday we had a leisurely breakfast then drove over to Carding Mill Valley,  fab to visit,  amazing walks and views in the Shropshire hills, and then off home – definitely to return – one of best bunkhouses I have ever  stayed in.
