Self-cater or camp – and earn a badge, or work towards several badges here on our environmentally-friendly working farm. Here are some of the badges we are set up here to help you earn – Artist, Camper, Environmental Conservation, Farming, Forester, Hikes Away, History Comes Alive, Nature, Nights Away, Orienteering, Photography, Survival, Writer and many more! We regularly host youth groups here – we have a 500-acre farm to explore and use with woods, ponds, hedges and flowery meadows all teeming with wildlife. And for history explorers, there are ancient listed buildings, archaeology, castle earthworks and a growing farm museum. We can guide or teach depending on what you need!
Our small family team are here to help but, equally, can leave Scout Leaders to do their own thing. We’ve hosted and led a multi-award-winning Wildlife Watch group here on the farm for nine years – and between the members, they earned hundreds of badges and enjoyed years of fun summer camps! Whittling, investigating ponds, writing wild poetry, fieldwalking for artefacts, painting, photographing wildlife and obscure items, making camp fires, orienteering trails around the farm, working in the woods, doing nature conservation projects. We would love to welcome scouts here on this working farm and share what we’ve got to offer.
If you have a large group, you can hire both the Old Brooder and the Tudor Barn too, sleeping a combined total of nearly 50 Scouts and Leaders. There are private rooms for leaders and larger communal rooms for children. The farm is peacefully situated down a long farm drive away from the road. It is very rural but the nearest large village, Lavenham with shops, is only c3 miles away. We unpack a supermarket delivery free of charge ahead of arrival to help and can organise catering too.
