Are you inspired by the wonderful Cathedrals Cycle Route and looking for an accessible route? You can hop on a train with your bike to Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, cycle along 56-mile St Edmundsbury Cathedral to Chelmsford Cathedral CCR15 section of the 2,000-mile cycle route – and hop on a train again at the end. And midway, you can stay overnight in our Tudor Barn on our peaceful environmentally-friendly farm. We offer 5-10% discounts for CCR cyclists and welcome solo cyclists midweek, at short notice, and larger cycling groups any time with lots of notice.
This wonderful Cathedral Cycle route goes through stunning Suffolk and Essex landscapes where you can stop off and explore other beautiful ‘Wool Town’ churches, where the wealthy wool clothiers built grand and elaborately decorated ‘wool churches’ in Tudor times. St Edmundsbury Cathedral is spectacular and has so many things going on there – art, music, tours and more. At the end of a lovely day’s cycling and exploring, we can offer you a comfortable bed – and sometimes a meal.
Over the years, we’ve hosted several choirs staying to sing at St Edmundsbury Cathedral and bell-ringers on bicycles who have rung bells in churches en-route. Whether you are cycling solo or with a group, do check out our comfortable farmstay bunkhouse or other accommodation. Whilst the huge Tudor Barn sleeps up to 25 in one large group, we’re also open to singles or small groups of cyclists, especially midweek and at short notice! There’s always somewhere safe and dry to store your bike, wonderfully accommodating local pubs. Get in touch direct with us for a quote.
