There are two ground floor bedrooms at Haworth Youth Hostel. One of which is an accessible 4-bedded room, (double with a single over plus another twin bunk). The other is a 2-bedded room. There’s an accessible bathroom with shower, low washbasin, WC and grab rails. Transfer is left-handed onto the toilet, this is in the corridor next to the accessible bedroom. There is also a unisex WC and a unisex shower.
Main entrance and reception: From the porch there is a 3cm sloping step and then a set of manual double doors which open inwards to the entry hall. There is then another set of double doors which are
permanently open leading into the reception lobby. The reception lobby is level throughout and is well-lit with ceiling lights. There is a wooden parquet floor. There is a portable induction loop available on request at reception.
Public areas
Halls and corridors
There is good colour contrast to floor, walls and doorways throughout the building. All public areas, halls, stairs and landings are well lit using a combination of ceiling and wall lights. The corridors on the ground floor are either polished wood or carpet. The corridors on the upper floors are carpeted. Unfortunately there is not have a lift, so access to the upper floor is by stairs only. The staircase is wide and carpeted and has a bannister on one side.
Lounge
The lounge is located on the ground floor and has level access from the reception lobby via a single leaf door. The floor is level throughout and carpeted. It is well-lit with ceiling lights. The room is furnished with coffee tables, sofas and chairs with and without armrests. The furniture is all well-spaced. All furniture can also be moved; please just ask at reception if you require assistance.
Dining room
The dining room is located on the ground floor and has level access from the reception via a single leaf door. The floor is level throughout and the room is well-lit with ceiling lights. The flooring is wood effect vinyl. There are dining tables and straight backed chairs without armrests. All furniture can be moved; please just ask at reception if you require assistance. Table service is available; please ask at reception and they will be happy to help. We are also happy to cater for dietary requirements. Please advise us of these before your arrival.
Self-catering kitchen and dining room
The self-catering kitchen is located in the basement. There is step-free access from the back garden down a steep tarmac slope. There is then a single leaf door which opens outwards. The kitchen is level and has non-slip flooring. The kitchen is equipped with two catering size sinks, with drainers, a microwave, two toasters, two fridges, two standard electric domestic cookers, with ovens hobs and grills, and a cordless kettle. Crockery and some kitchen equipment are kept in high shelving units. We would be happy to move these to lower storage if required.
Laundry and drying facilities
The laundry room is also located in the basement. The floor is level and surfaced with nonslip lino. There is a token operated washing machine available here.
Meeting rooms
There is one meeting room/classroom on the ground floor. It has level access from the reception lobby. It is level throughout and has good, even lighting. We can provide tables and chairs in a variety of seating arrangements. The meeting room has a sprung wooden dance floor.
