Summer Holidays in the Woods!

Shining Cliff hostel is a unique, off-road woodland hostel in the stunning Derwent Valley World Heritage site. Your adventure starts when you step off the train or get out of your car and find your way along woodland footpaths to the hostel!
There are 5 bedrooms available for hire, for just £20 per person per night; with 3 shared bathrooms, an open plan lounge and dining area and well equipped self catering kitchen.

Shining Cliff hostel is located in the heart of Shining Cliff woods, a stunning ancient woodland in the River Derwent valley. You can get to the hostel by train or bus, and then follow the walking directions to find your way to the hostel, or park your car in the woodland car park and porter your belongings by wheelbarrow along the half mile woodland footpath to the hostel.
There are endless walking options to explore, a lake and streams, crags and a stunning fire pit area nestled up against the Shining Cliff crag to have campfires in the evenings.
This is a magical place to feel as though you are away from it all, even though you can easily access local places of interest, such as Matlock Bath and Cromford.
We have availability mid-week (Sunday – Thursday) for either sole use stays or individual room bookings. We offer discounts for smaller groups hiring the entire hostel (£185 for 6 people or fewer, £225 for 7-12 people) and discounts for longer stays and arriving by sustainable travel.
