Long Distance Paths in Suffolk – National Trust properties and bunkhouse en route

Explore Suffolk’s Long Distance Paths and stay in the Old Brooder bunkhouse. Rural but accessible by train, bike or car, come and stay in Suffolk for a few days of fresh air and walking some beautiful routes through ancient Suffolk countryside with hedges, woods, rivers, medieval Wool villages.

You’re in medieval Wool Town country here with water meadows, Redpoll cattle and Suffolk sheep, timber-framed buildings, ancient woodland, big-hedge countryside and undulating fields of wheat, barley … and National Trust properties (Melford Hall and Lavenham Guildhall) en route.

Try the St Edmunds Way or Stour Valley Path – or sections of it – which take in rivers, medieval villages and towns, woodland, disused railway lines and hedged countryside, and stay within a few miles in our Old Brooder bunkhouse.  You can walk three miles along the Brett Valley on footpaths to join St Emund’s Way in the beautiful medieval village of Lavenham, then south along disused railway line with flowers of chalk and ancient woodland (and detour if you want to see Kentwell Hall) to another beautiful ancient town, Long Melford where you can join the Stour Valley Path south-east towards Flatford Mill or west towards Clare. Check out the Long Distant Path routes here

And whilst you’re here you can stay in our Old Brooder bunkhouse which sleeps 20 – and additional 22 in our completely separate Tudor barn.  Check out our website here.
