Renovated from lead mining buildings, Pindale Farm still retains evocative names for its accommodation buildings. A 14th century farmhouse, The Barn, The Old Lead Mine Engine House, The Powder House. These names alone would tempt me up there.

It sits in The Hope Valley, not far from Castleton, one of the iconic Peak District locations. Mam Tor is close; the castle at Catleton perches on its precipitous crag; moors and valleys roll away, inviting the energetic to explore them; the delightful picturesque railway line brings you here. Lovely.

The centre itself offers accommodation particularly to groups seeking adventurous pursuits. Caving, climbing, walking, horse riding to name but a few. And afterwards you tumble back tired and achey to a warm Aga and a comfortable room.
