Fort William is known as the outdoor capital of the UK.  Surrounded by mountains, the town is dominated by the imposing bulk of Ben Nevis and just around the corner is Glen Nevis, with waterfalls and ancient pine forest. You can start or end the  West Highland Way and the Great Glen Way in Fort William.  There are mountains trails for hiking and biking and a big choice of local water for canoeing and kayaking.  Winter outdoor activities include skiing, snow-boarding, mountaineering and ice-climbing.
