Since the council announced that the Barmouth Bridge Path was a potential cut there has been a sharp reaction from the public who recognise the bridge as a national Icon and want to see the path stay open for bikes, walkers and disabled scooter users.
A petition has already received over 26000 signatures and the issue has been covered in the national press and was a recent feature on the Jeremy Vine show. It is hardly surprising as the bridge is crossed by:
the Wales Coastal Path
The Cambrian way from Cardiff to Conway,
Lon Las Cymru cycle route from Cardiff to Holyhead,
the Mawddach Trail
and the Cross Britain Way from Barmouth to Boston.
The 31 October 2015 is Action Day on Barmouth Bridge with cyclists, walkers and mobility scooter users being invited to join us in Barmouth to oppose the possible closure of the bridge footpath as a result of council cuts.
You can find out more and register for the event on the 31 October by going to Barmouth Viaduct Access Group
At the Bunkorama we know lots of our guests are using the bridge as part of their activity Holiday and we invite you to come to Barmouth on the 31st October and help save something special as well as have a great weekend.
