The castle is privately owned and on some summer months there is a medieval knight in residence.
Carew Castle, just 4 miles from Lawrenny Hostel, hosts a medieval village for some weeks in the summer with period activities for the kids. Sir Rhys gives a tour of the castle and there is a demonstration of how to put on medieval armour. A few groats seem to go a long way in that tented village.
