Subsidised stays for community groups in the Lake District

January 27th 2025

The Rookhow Retreat Away scheme offers subsidised stays for community groups. Groups have to apply- 2 rounds a year in April and October. This scheme is aimed at people who would not otherwise be able to afford a break away. 25%/ 50% or 75% funding for the accommodation depending on need and availability of funds.

Youth groups are drawn to Rookhow for its unique charm and setting: 12 acres of private woodland, a serene temperate rainforest where groups can enjoy exclusive access. Highlights include a cosy yurt nestled in the heart of the woods, a campfire area, and ample space to explore and connect with nature. Located in a quiet yet easily accessible corner of the Lake District, it’s the perfect retreat. Groups also appreciate the rich history and tranquility of the 300-year-old Quaker Meeting House—a simple, peaceful, and beautiful space.
