Redmire Station House is a Scout hostel based in heart of Wensleydale in the tranquil beauty of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This impressive Victorian building, once a station master's house, booking office and waiting room, now sits on the Wensleydale heritage railway line that runs from Bedale to Redmire. Available to non-scout groups, Station House sleeps 20 across 4 rooms. Facilities include a well equipped self catering kitchen, lounge with open fire, dining room, games room with pool and table football and boot room. Outside there are two areas for camping for larger groups

This unique hostel makes a great base for groups visiting this wonderful part of the country. There are cycling and walking routes from the door, pubs meals are a short stroll away in Redmire villlage and Castle Bolton, Aysgarth Falls and the many attraction of the Yorkshire Dales are close by. Scout sections, youth groups, charities, clubs and groups of friends & families are all welcome.

  • Directions:

    From A1(M) take exit junction 51. Follow A684 for Bedale. Continue on A684 to Leyburn. Proceed through Leyburn and at the roundabout turn left onto Wensley Rd/A684. Follow the road for 1.3 miles then turn right signpost Redmire. Follow this road for around 3 miles until you descend to a tight left-hand bend under the railway bridge. DO NOT FOLLOW THE BEND but take the lane straight on to Station House.

Used in the filming of “Robin Hood Prince of Thieves” the Aysgarth Falls are only 2 miles from woodland cabin accommodation at the Jonas Centre

The Aysgarth Falls stretch over a one-mile length of the River Ure. The falls have grabbed the attention of many cultural icons for more than 200 years, including Wordsworth and Turner, so it is no surprise that they also star in a Hollywood film.    Ifootpath provide a walking route for a 2.5 mile circular walk from the village of Aysgarth in Wensleydale. The walk takes in a woodland nature reserve and rolling farmland, with lovely views of Bolton Castle as well as the most spectacular  Aysgarth Falls.
