Walkers' and cyclists' accommodation on the North Downs
Puttenham Barn Bunkhouse offers simple overnight accommodation and a warm welcome for walkers and cyclists - individuals, families or groups - in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (now also known as National Landscapes).
Located on the North Downs Way and Sustrans NCN22 cycle route, the Barn has a fully equipped self-catering kitchen, a shower, toilets and a garden with picnic benches.
The sleeping space is partitioned into two areas, both accommodating 4 people in bunk beds, plus a sleeping platform for 3 (or 4 small people) on a foam mattress.
Electricity and hot water included. Small shop on site. Evening meals are available in the village.
The Barn has many sustainable features including solar panels and rainwater collection for flushing toilets. No cars are allowed on site but there is limited street parking near to the premises. Excellent cycle shed.
Young people under 18 are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Lights out 11.30 pm.
The Barn website gives suggested walking routes: One from Godalming station to the Barn, the other from the Barn to Farncombe station (both stations being on the main London-Guildford-Portsmouth railway).
The barn is also on the Pilgrim's Way at Guildford and welcomes all pilgrims.

Puttenham Barn is a wonderful old listed building which has been sympathetically restored to be environmentally friendly. They have rainwater harvesting, solar electricity and solar hot water. The restoration carried out enables you to see traditional and sustainable construction methods.If you arrive at Puttenham Barn Bunkhouse on foot, by bike or on public transport you can claim a fab ‘green discount’ of £3 per person per night.

The Barn has many sustainable features including solar panels and rainwater collection for flushing toilets. And has a NO CAR policy. So no cars are allowed beyond the road entrance, even for unloading luggage. The Barn has an excellent kitchen and there are two good local pubs for food.
