Adventure Centre on the edge of the Peak District

Mount Cook is a spacious purpose built outdoor centre run on a not-for-profit basis. Completed in 2016, this wonderful centre oozing quality and serenity provides the perfect base for groups of 8 - 180 looking for an exciting break in the Peak District.

The main building sleeps 140 in 34 ensuite bedrooms and houses a large glass-fronted, licensed refectory. There are a variety of meeting spaces available that can be equipped with projectors and screens for all your classroom or conferencing needs. Just outside 10 unique pods, with lighting, USB charging point, heating and ensuite WC each sleep 4 in bunks. Showers are a few steps away in the main building. All bedding is provided. BYO towels. B&B, half or full board. Self catering is available for sole use bookings.

Set in 9 acres of private grounds, there is a wonderful range of exciting outdoor activities on site, plus more off-site. These can be pre-booked for any group of 8 or more.

The Centre boasts direct access to the High Peak Trail & The Pennine Bridleway for walking and cycling, and Black Rocks for climbing. Cromford Mills World Heritage Site, the Heights of Abraham, Chatsworth House and Carsington Reservoir are all close by. While the quaint market town Wirksworth is with walking distance and offers a selection of lovely pubs and restaurants.

Popular with schools, clubs, corporate team building, weddings and gatherings of friends and families. There is ample free parking for up to 40 vehicles just a 2 minute walk away from the main building, as well as electric vehicle charging and accessible parking.

    From A6 at Cromford follow signs to Wirksworth up Cromford Hill, at the top turn right onto Porter Lane (signposted Middleton By Wirksworth and Ashborne) Mount Cook well signposted on the left and shares the main entrance with the Eco and Stone Centres. From Wirksworth follow the main road towards Cromford, after the railway bridge in Bolehill turn left and follow the above instructions.

For just £66.60 per person you can do the following programme…

Take on outdoor team building activities like zip wire, high ropes, archery or orienteering.

Mount Cook offers bespoke Christmas parties that are perfect for team building, making memories, and doing something a bit different with your team.

Whether it’s holistic activities like bush craft or guided walks, or adventurous activities like zip wire or archery tag, Mount Cook has activities for all comfort levels. Our fully trained instructors will guide you through each activity to make sure everyone is having safe fun!

We take care of the catering for you, with cooked and continental breakfast, buffet lunches, and hearty hot dinners with homemade puddings. Our onsite bar sells a great selection of local and popular soft or alcoholic drinks, including White Peaks Distillery Gin.

Don’t fancy staying overnight? No problem! Christmas parties are also available as just a day option, where we can provide a hot tasty lunch alongside activities.

There’s still time to book Mount Cook Adventure Centre for your large group this August Bank Holiday. With accommodation for up to 180 people, Mount Cook is perfect for large family groups, stag and hen parties, faith groups, sports clubs, charities, or corporate retreats. Everything you need can be found onsite at Mount Cook, including nutritious and hearty full-board catering, and outdoor activities. However, if you want to venture into Derbyshire, there’s so much to do right on our doorstep!

Want to book an event you’ll never forget? You can book exciting activities like rock climbing, abseiling, archery and zip wire to go alongside your stay!

Mount Cook is right on top of the High Peak Trail, with great access to walking and cycling routes. Black Rocks is walking distance from Mount Cook, with abseiling, rock climbing, Carsington Reservoir is a 10 minute drive away – perfect for walking, paddling, bird watching or cycling.

Just 10 minutes away from the spa town of Matlock Bath and 5 minutes from Wirksworth, Mount Cook offers great access to loads of tourist attractions like Gulliver’s Kingdom, the Heights of Abraham, and Cromford Mills.
