The Lismore Bunkhouse and Campsite is a warm, cosy and comfy base from which to explore the beautiful Isle of Lismore and surroundings. With a mixture of en suite dorms and private rooms the bunkhouse can accommodate up to 12 people. There is a room of 6 bunkbeds, a double room and a family room with a double bed and set of bunks. All rooms are ensuite and the 6 bed room has an accessible wet room.

The site is also home to Lismore's only campsite, with 5 pitches and 2 camper van hook-up spots. The bunkhouse is built to a high green spec with solar heating, photovoltaic electricity, an air source heat pump, green living roof, scottish larch cladding, clay puddling and even a natural swimming pool. Features include underfloor heating, free WiFi, a fully equipped self-catering kitchen,seasonal PYO organic veg, free tree planting, towel hire and a laundry service (and much, much more!).

The Isle of Lismore is easily accessed by car ferry from Oban and passenger ferry from Port Appin. The island is great for walking, cycling, nature watching and has an interesting historical past. Bike hire available from bunkhouse.

  • Directions:

    From Achnacroish head up the main road until you reach a T junction. Turn right past the Public Hall and take the next left at the Sailean sign post. At the purple letter box turn up the track. From Point travel along the main road past the Heritage Centre and past the shop then take a right a the Sailean turning.

  • Public Transport :

    Car and passenger ferries from Oban to Achnacroish run 4 times a day and from Port Appin there is a 10 minute passenger ferry to the north end of the island which runs on the hour. There is a connecting train service from Glasgow Queen St to Oban as well as Citylink buses.

Lismore, a Hebridean haven

The low lying fertile isle is located 7 miles form Oban in the inner Hebrides. The name Lismore is derived from the Gaelic “Lios Mòr” meaning great garden. The isle has a rich Gaelic tradition which can be seen in the beautiful ruins of Castle Coeffin. The tranquil green expanses of provide an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and the stunning views of the surrounding islands and mainland will take your breath away. You can even see the summit of Ben Nevis on a clear day.

The Bunkhouse has a mix of private rooms and dorms and provides a warm bed, a warm atmosphere and warm floors with under floor heating. The bunkhouse was built with the environment in mind with solar heating, a green roof and much more.
