Take the A970 north from Lerwick to Voe then the A968 north to Toft . Take the ferry from Toft to Ulsta in Yell. Take the A968 north to Gutcher. Take the ferry from Gutcher to Belmont. Follow the A968 north and head into Uyeasound (B9084). Follow the road to the pier and look out for the hostel sign board.Public Transport :
Ferry from Aberdeen to Shetland (Northlink Ferries). The bus meets the ferry and continues to Unst. Ask for Uyeasound. Flights to Lerwick (BA). From Fetlar catch 7:55am ferry from Oddsta (Bus meets ferry)Walks :

In 1993 a pod of Orca were repeatedly beaching in Uyeasound close to Gardiesfold Hostel. They were accompanying an ill animal which later died; as soon as the sick animal was removed, the rest of the pod returned to sea.
